Good Press Cafe at 21c St. Louis fits squarely into the downtown rhythm as an artful coffee spot where design meets everyday caffeine needs. Tucked inside a boutique hotel on Locust Street, it offers a look that’s polished without feeling stiff—white walls, curated art pieces, and a boutique sensibility that reflects the city’s creative pulse. The space itself can feel a bit tight and lively, especially during weekday mornings when business travelers and locals converge for their coffee runs.

For those who appreciate their coffee crafted with care, Good Press delivers with a selection that goes beyond the usual drip. Standouts include a well-made cappuccino and a matcha latte that’s smooth and not overly sweet. The avocado toast is a go-to light bite, though portion sizes lean modest, reflecting a balance of style and substance rather than hearty brunch fare. If you stop by, mornings tend to be the busiest, making it a good mid-morning or early afternoon spot when the initial rush has settled, especially if you want a moment to soak in the surrounding art and refined interiors.

The staff here come across as attentive and familiar with local palates, helping guide beverage choices or pastry picks like their smoked salmon toast or simple French toast, which complement the coffee rather than overshadow it. While it’s not the place for expansive seating or quiet corners — the vibe tends to buzz with hotel guests and downtown workers — it’s perfect for those who want solid coffee in a thoughtfully designed environment where the city’s creative and hospitality sectors intersect.

In short, Good Press stands out as a practical stop for downtown folks who appreciate their coffee ritual framed by art and design, and who don’t mind the hustle of a small but stylish urban café space. It’s less about lounging all day and more about grabbing a carefully made drink and a light bite while soaking in a distinctively St. Louis ambiance.

A Culinary & Design Gem in St. Louis: Good Press Café This morning’s visit to Good Press in St. Louis was nothing short of exceptional—a seamless blend of thoughtful gastronomy and interior sophistication that speaks to both the palette and the eye. From the moment you step inside, Good Press commands attention. Its interiors evoke a boutique sensibility that balances artistry, heritage, and bold modernity. With unapologetic use of luxe tones, rich textures, and an eclectic yet harmonious interplay of patterns and color palettes, the space challenges conventional design norms. As an interior designer, I found myself rethinking boundaries—this café dares to mix with purpose and style, and it does so with absolute finesse. Equally impressive is the culinary offering. Every dish was prepared with remarkable attention to detail, and the quality of the ingredients—especially the pasteurized selections—was nothing less than a chef’s kiss. The flavors were clean, intentional, and elegant without being overstated. And then, there’s the staff: welcoming, authentic, and refreshingly warm. Their sincere hospitality rounds out the experience, making it feel more like a curated lifestyle moment than just a casual breakfast outing. Good Press is not merely a café—it’s an immersion into taste, texture, and thoughtfully layered design. If you’ve yet to experience it, consider this your invitation to elevate your morning. Go—linger a little longer, savor a little deeper.

Great coffee and decent snacks. I got a cortado and chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was pretty mediocre, but the coffee was nice. There aren’t a ton of coffee options in downtown St. Louis so this stands out as one of the better ones – better than Starbucks, at least. The space is a little crowded and noisy.

Cute coffee shop inside a hotel! Loved the ambiance and the black walnut latte I had was fantastic. The avocado toast was decent but I wish the bread was bigger, pretty small. A bit pricey.

Friendly staff, good coffee and tea, as well as tasty pastries. We didn't try other options, besides overnight oats (gluten free, and good!). But what we did experience was great :)

A true espresso shop as so needed in this area. Great cappuccino done correctly. Pastries were also delicious. Super attentive and friendly staff. This is located inside the hotel. Just go on main door, up the stairs into the lobby and turn right. Lots of seating.

It's in a hotel so you have to find the entrance. The coffee is smooth, rich, and original. It is unbelievable, this will be a worthwhile stop if you're a connoisseur. The food comes from the kitchen in another room so when you order you're not going to see the guy making your food don't worry about that somebody is making your food haha. The French toast is amazing, croissant sandwich is perfection, and the original breakfast is high quality and fills you up. The place is extraordinary and they are open early which is very helpful. I came here three mornings because it's so good, there was no need to try a different breakfast spot downtown after I discovered it during the conference. Opens at 6:30am
